Winding through the rugged terrains of the Alaska Zoo, the call of the wild takes on a new rhythm.

But nature's allure isn't solely the privilege of able-bodied adventurers.

Unfolding the Terrain

The Alaska Zoo stands as a testament to the wonders of the northernmost state of the United States.

With 20 acres of gravel trails, the zoo's rugged trails offer a sanctuary for visitors to witness the likes of Siberian tigers, bald eagles, and brown bears.

In this untamed beauty, the zoo introduced an innovative means of exploration — the Extreme Motus All Terrain Wheelchair.

Designed to traverse the most challenging landscapes, it’s an apparatus that doesn’t give in to gravel or the impenetrable Alaskan weather.

How do I rent the Extreme Motus Chair?

There are no reservations in advance, chair rental is on a first-come basis at the gate.

Be sure to check our hours before you arrive.

The last entry is always 30 minutes before closing. When you arrive at admissions, you will be asked to fill out a form.

Things to keep in mind.

• The renter or parent/guardian must be 18 years or older.
• A non-refundable fee of $25 will be charged at the gate.
• A driver's license or credit card must be left at admissions during the rental.
• The time limit for use is 2.5 hours with a 30-minute. grace period before additional charges accrue.
• Weight capacity is 250 pounds, and only one rider at a time.
